Thinkport.org is a K-12 education web portal for teachers, students and families.
Developed by Maryland Public Television, in partnership with Johns Hopkins University Center for Technology in Education, Thinkport provides a rich collection of multimedia resources for the classroom, online professional development, innovative technology tools and a bridge to support learning in the home.

Thinkport.org was launched in the Spring of 2003.

Maryland Public Television operates Thinkport with funding support through a grant from the US Department of Education.

Maryland Public Television’s commitment to education has touched families, schools, and child care providers for more than 35 years. Over the airwaves, on the Internet and in the community, MPT is at the forefront of technology enhanced education for learners of all ages. As the centerpiece, Thinkport is a premier Internet destination for education in the state and builds bridges to learning through the development and digital delivery of multimedia resources including an award winning collection of interactive Online Field Trips.

Thinkport is primarily an education service for the Maryland education community

Thinkport offers the convenience of one place for Maryland teachers to go for high quality classroom resources and online professional development to assist in integrating technology into instruction. Best of all, Thinkport resources are free.

Approximately twenty employees on the education staff with expertise in a number of areas including educational instruction, content development, and production.

Plans are to continue to enhance the development of Thinkport into a robust digital education platform that serves Maryland and beyond in the use of educational technology, transforming the ordinary classroom into the extraordinary.
